Well a Friday DSinsider post is a bit unusual, but there is some important information that needs to be passed along at this time. Please reply to this post with any questions or comments you may have.

1. The City has responded to the large number of requests for additional time and information with regard to Z-27-14, the city-wide rezoning initiative also known as UDO Remapping, by establishing opportunities for outreach to its citizens. There are two different methods for direct interaction with staff to discuss the remapping process and outcomes.

         - Individual contact for people that signed up to speak at one of the public hearings – City Planning staff will send direct mail to each speaker from the July 7th and July 21st public hearings. Staff will follow this mailing with contact via email or phone to answer any questions and provide an additional opportunity for information sharing.  Each speaker will be provided an opportunity to meet a staff member in person to continue the conversation, if desired.

        - Open office hours to discuss rezoning concerns – Every Thursday, beginning July 30 through September 3, City Planning staff will hold open office hours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Raleigh Municipal Building, 222 West Hargett Street. During this time, staff will be available to answer questions and provide additional information regarding the citywide remapping.

2. The Building Code Summary sheet has been updated. Please use the form with the revised date of 7.27.15 as the older version will no longer be accepted.

3. UDC Talks resumes on August 12. This lecture series is free and open to the public, and provides opportunities for Architects, Planners, and Landscape Architects to earn continuing education credits. The lecture on August 12, entitled “The Future of the Past: Using New Technology to tell Old Stories,” will feature speaker Ernest Dollar, the Director of the City of Raleigh Museum and Pope House Museum. Please visit the UDC Talks webpage for additional information.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
