Today marks the start of a new fiscal year here at the city. City Council has approved next year’s budget and we are putting the finishing touches on the Development Fee Schedule to reflect the fee increase of .10%. This increase is based on the average annual prior calendar year U.S. Department of Labor Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers.
We’ve heard from our stakeholders about the need for after-hours review and are happy to announce that we are now offering After-Hours Express Review for certain types of projects. Not only will this add additional time slots for the expedited service, but it provides an alternative for our customers that would prefer to come in after normal business hours.
The Development Services Department has been working to develop and implement some changes that will take effect on June 15th.
We’re only three weeks from the official start of summer, and as usual, we’ve seen an uptick in the number of permits issued. This trend is typical during the spring and summer months as these are traditionally the peak seasons for residential construction in the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the average amount spent on construction is about 35% higher in the summer versus the winter.
