We’ve heard from our stakeholders about the need for after-hours review and are happy to announce that we are now offering After-Hours Express Review for certain types of projects. Not only will this add additional time slots for the expedited service, but it provides an alternative for our customers that would prefer to come in after normal business hours.

We’re only three weeks from the official start of summer, and as usual, we’ve seen an uptick in the number of permits issued. This trend is typical during the spring and summer months as these are traditionally the peak seasons for residential construction in the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the average amount spent on construction is about 35% higher in the summer versus the winter.

We typically reserve our first blog of the month for highlighting noteworthy development projects. This month, however, we are kicking off Building Safety Month and wanted to tell you about our open house. You can still view all of the development plans and rezoning cases submitted during the last month via our website.

The Development Services Department is excited to be observing Building Safety Month (BSM), a public awareness campaign founded by the International Code Council (ICC), during the month of May. This campaign aims to inform residents and businesses about creating safe and sustainable structures through the adoption of modern building codes, effective code enforcement, and the involvement of well-trained professionals.
