Despite being short-staffed during the past two months, our Intake Specialists at the DSCSC have done a wonderful job of servicing our customers. And as we now enter what is typically the busiest time of the year, we are excited to announce the addition of two new employees.
Shannan Campbell, an Appalachian State University graduate and Certified Zoning Official, spent six years as a Planner with the Town of Morrisville before joining Development Services. She is excited to join our team and is eager to put her skills to work while learning Raleigh’s development processes. Shannan lives in South Durham with her husband, Jared, a teacher at Chapel Hill High School. She and Jared enjoy camping, fishing, boating, and spending time outdoors.
Tasha McDowell, a graduate of NC Central University, lives in Dunn with her husband, Eric, and five year old son, Atlas. She previously worked for the City of Dunn as a Customer Service Representative in the Utility Department. It was there that Tasha spent seven years processing utility taxes and assessments. She enjoys spending time outdoors and working with people. Her goal is to learn quickly so she can better serve her customers.
Shannan and Tasha are very fortunate to have five veteran Intake Specialists with nearly 70 years of combined experience to teach them all of the development processes. Since opening the DSCSC five years ago, it has been our goal to cross-train all of our intake staff. While this requires a significant amount of time and effort, it improves our efficiency and is totally worth it. As a result, our customers enjoy a quicker, more informed plan-submittal session. And our employees like knowing that they are able to assist any customer with any type of submittal package. The training, however, is never really complete. Policies and procedures often change, and new processes are introduced with regularity. If you ask me, they have a tough job. But to see them smiling and laughing with their customers each day, you’d never know it.
Please join me in welcoming our new employees, and feel free to introduce yourself next time you are in the DSCSC! Have a great week!
