For those that have not already heard the news, I am pleased to announce that Bradley Kimbrell has been selected as the new Development Services Customer Service Center Manager. Bradley has been with the City’s Public Works department for two years and is eager to complete the transition into his new role.

Knowing that I was going to blog about this, and having previously held that position myself, I wanted to sit down with Bradley to congratulate him, share some words of wisdom, and learn more about him. During our conversation, he shared that he and his wife, Lindsay, have a beautiful one-year-old daughter, Lily June. I also learned that Bradley is a licensed Engineer, a huge NC State fan and an Eagle Scout.

Here is a little more about Bradley...

SC – Congratulations on being promoted to DSCSC Manager. What are you most excited about as you embark on this new journey?
BK – I’m really excited to see a different side of the City’s development process.  But mostly I’m looking forward to working in a different capacity with the amazing folks in Development Services.  In just a short amount of time they have made me feel welcome and part of the team!

SC – Where did you attend college and what did you study?
BK – I graduated from NC State with a degree in Civil Engineering.

SC – What about the DSCSC Manager position interested you?
BK – Raleigh tops most national lists every year.  It’s an exciting place to work and I, as an employee, feel it’s easy to be proud of the job we do.  That being said, I personally believe Development is the heartbeat of this thriving city and there’s no place I’d rather be than the center of it all.  I’m truly passionate about providing the best customer service possible to our clients to set them up for success, ultimately making the City successful.

SC - What previous jobs and experiences have prepared you for this new role?
BK – During my time at NCDOT, and also my first couple years here at the City in Public Works, I have worked closely with the development community to review and permit incredible projects throughout the greater Raleigh area.  I hope to continue those efforts in my new position, focusing on strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors.

SC - How do you plan to spend your first few months in your new position?
BK – My plan is to absorb as much information as possible from our stakeholders, both internal and external.  I believe that everyone has a voice and is entitled to having it heard.  I hope folks feel comfortable sharing it with me.

SC – So I hear that you are an Eagle Scout. That is quite an accomplishment. Can you tell me about that process?
BK – Becoming an Eagle Scout was a lengthy process but filled with unforgettable experiences that had significant impacts on my growth and development as a young man.  As back then and is true today I am blessed to have had individuals throughout my life that provided guidance and support.  Something you can never truly understand the value of.  I’m thankful for what the Scouting experience gave me and hope to give back to Scouting however and whenever I can.

Please join me in welcoming Bradley to Development Services. It sounds like he is very excited to get started. He is in the midst of a month-long transition from his previous job and is working on getting situated in his new office on the 4th floor of One Exchange Plaza. He can be reached at (919) 996-2233.
