Blog

Today's post, as with the first blog of every month, will highlight a few of the more noteworthy development proposals submitted during the last 30 days. And if you're interested in other projects, we'll direct you to our web page describing all other submittals. Keep in mind that these projects are very early in the plan review process, and changes to the design and/or scope may occur in the future as deemed necessary.

First up is S-13-2016, also known as Hargett Place Townhomes. This development is proposed to be located on E. Hargett Street between S. Bloodworth and S. East Streets. Currently, the property is used as a playground and a parking lot. The proposal is to construct nineteen four-story townhome units with streetscape improvements. Each unit is proposed to have two bedrooms.

The next proposal is SR-15-2016, or Legacy at Brier Creek. The site, which consists of about 9.5 acres, is located in the Brier Creek community at the southeast corner of TW Alexander Drive and Brier Creek Parkway. It is surrounded by multi-family housing units to the south and east. The proposal is to construct a four-story office building with nearly 115,000 square feet of office space and an associated parking deck.

And lastly, a Raleigh landmark (the Velvet Cloak Inn) is proposed to be demolished and redeveloped into an apartment complex. SR-22-2016 is a proposal to construct a 150 unit apartment complex with an associated parking deck and amenities. The site, 1505 Hillsborough Street, is located between N.C. State University and downtown, and is approximately 2.5 acres. As proposed, the project includes 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units.

FYI - If you're not sure what the letter(s) stand for in the case/file number (for example, the S in S-13-2016), S stands for subdivision and SR stands for site review. This is the type of development. Our Current Development Activity web page briefly describes each development type and lists all cases currently under review. It also provides links to the associated process pages.
