Our offices will be closed today in observance of Veterans Day. We appreciate the many sacrifices made by all who serve/have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and honor you on this day.

Here are a few updates for the month of November:

The Pre-Construction Meeting Checklist has recently been updated. You’re probably familiar with this Public Works form if you are involved with the development process for residential subdivisions, multi-family developments, or commercial properties. The purpose of the checklist is to aid applicants in their compliance with City standards and specifications, and to make the development process as seamless as possible. Current modifications include updated contact information and additional details regarding some of the requirements. Please be sure to download the most recent version of this checklist. Questions concerning it can be directed to Paul Kallam, Public Works Engineering Manager.

I’d also like to remind everyone that the Urban Design Center staff will host our next UDC Talks session next Thursday, November 19, at noon at the City of Raleigh Museum on Fayetteville Street. For those not familiar with UDC Talks, it is a lecture series that is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring their lunch and are eligible for professional education credits. Next week’s topic is “Multigenerational Living: The Resurgence of a Forgotten Housing Typology.” Speakers include Katherine Hogan and Vincent Petrarca of Tonic Architecture, an award-winning design-build firm in Raleigh. For more information, please visit the UDC Talks website.

And lastly, SAVE THE DATE for the City’s 18th annual Small Business Expo scheduled for December 15 at Southeast Raleigh High School. This is a great opportunity for small business owners to promote their businesses by networking with representatives from the City of Raleigh, Wake County, various State agencies, the Wake County Public School System, and local general contracting firms, all of which are looking for end-users and vendors. Register to attend by December 14th.

Thanks so much for reading. Please feel free to leave a comment here if you have any questions about any of these items. I will be glad to assist! Have a wonderful week!
